If the state of Assam should get its own time zone, the central Indian government must then approve it for the rest of the so called "Seven Sister States" (Northeast India): Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura and Meghalaya. An article from the Times of India, dated May 1, 2010, stated that a panel had been assembled to analyze this second time zone proposal. The panel results were to be published in January 2011. Three years have now passed and no further information has been put forth.
