A very valid point. I'm sure the suggestion of "D" comes about from its current use in many (but certainly not all) English-speaking countries that observe DST and the fact that it's very much different from "S". From that standpoint, "ESuT" is an equally viable (if a bit awkward) abbreviation.

However, I'm certain there is no documented use of "ESuT" as an abbreviation within Australia; whereas there is at least some existing usage of "(A)EDT" et al. Clearly, "the rest of us" who don't use the term "Daylight Saving" excludes at least some Australians.
