This is to request assistance with
my research into a suitable time zone database for use in updating commercial
data products.
Tele Atlas North America, Inc.
(“TANA”) seeks to improve the content and accuracy of time zone
information within
its national and global, street
centerline, proprietary database.
Since your website clearly
describes the tz database as a public domain database, I will want to proceed
as if there are no restrictions on its commercial use.
If restrictions do apply, please
respond to that effect.
TANA data analysts have reviewed a sample of your files. I
am tasked with relaying several technical observations / questions:
- Is there a metadata file
available?
- The purpose of the code is not
clear.
- Can the code be ‘tested’?
- Will the code produce a list
with state, county, and time zone (as applicable for North
- Does your naming convention
NOT reference counties’ association with time zones?
- Updates appear to be released ‘as
needed’. I believe the most recent was Oct. 1, 2007//version h? Is
there an update schedule other than as needed?
If the answers to these questions exist elsewhere, kindly
point me to them?
