Annoucments from Cisco regarding changes to WebEx
https://globenewswire.com/news-release/2018/04/18/1480793/0/en/Take-the-Mund... “To make it easier for teams to meet and get great work done, today we announce that we are converging the Cisco Spark™ and Webex platforms. The result is a new Webex Meetings application for your meetings and a new seamless team collaboration application called Webex Teams (formerly Cisco Spark). We are putting all our award-winning video devices onto this newly converged platform. And we’re adding a new hardware device that turns any work space with a TV into a Webex room. We didn’t stop there. We’re making everything easier to buy. And we’re continuing to apply machine learning and artificial intelligence that will dramatically improve meetings as we know them today.“
Thanks Dev. They forgot to add "bla bla bla" at the end of their sales pitch. The software is still unbelievably cumbersome to use and lacks so many features. It's been years that I have used Webex and it's not had any major improvements ever since it was launched. ICANN's now started using Webex for its meetings and although some of the difficulty is people having to adjust to Webex, it is still hard to use, works extra poorly on tablets & phones, and lacks many of the features which Adobe Connect had. I gather the sales pitch which includes "artificial intelligence" forgot to mention "blockchain" - together these terms are used to define any technological system that will save the world (tm). Many thanks to Dev for following these matters ans sharing. I have not used Webex in recent times but in another life it was the tool of choice for remote meetings. Yes, it was clunky then. OCL's opinion of its latest iteration is that it is 'unbelievably cumbersome to use' and with a poor feature set; clunky. I trust his judgment. Was intrigued to see OCL likely share my view of the blockchain phenomenon; overhyped and oversold. I'm still gobsmacked watching all the smart people who manage to forget the fundamentals and chugged that Koolaid. -Carlton ============================== *Carlton A Samuels* *Mobile: 876-818-1799Strategy, Planning, Governance, Assessment & Turnaround* ============================= On Thu, Apr 19, 2018 at 9:45 AM, Olivier MJ Crépin-Leblond <ocl@gih.com> wrote:

SO: Hahahaha... Lol c'mon Olivier WebEx can be the future you know. I guess Cisco have not figured that likes of junos are right behind them in the only territory they currently dominate. Certainly video conferencing is not a strength for Cisco. Since I was using WebEx till the last time I used it, they still haven't supported my country dialout option while zoom does that out of box. Yeah that alone gives me sufficient attitude against them ;-) Regards. Kindest regards,
Olivier

I cannot imagine that anyone who has used both Zoom and Webex under the ongoing ICANN trial licenses for both would prefer Webex over Zoom. Justine ----- On 20 April 2018 at 13:33, Seun Ojedeji <seun.ojedeji@gmail.com> wrote:

I had to use both, but zoom is very light to use and it works better with low broadband Ramanou 2018-04-20 6:17 GMT+00:00 Justine Chew <justine.chew@gmail.com>:
