Zoom begins offering automated transcription of conference calls
http://searchunifiedcommunications.techtarget.com/news/252434640/Automated-t... “Starting in late January, Zoom's business, enterprise and education customers have been able to turn on automated transcription of meetings and webinars through the platform's cloud recording tool. The transcripts indicate who was speaking and include time stamps synced with the audio and video recordings; they are also searchable.”
I believe this is a good tool and we can go ahead and test the tool ᐧ Daniel Nanghaka ALAC Sub-Committee on Outreach and Engagement – Co-chair from AFRALO ISOC Uganda Chapter Tel: +256 772 898298 On 8 February 2018 at 16:34, Judith Hellerstein <judith@jhellerstein.com> wrote:
HI Dev,
Yes we know about this and Joly McFie is working with Justine Chew to update the conferencing report with this info. He has used this tool often within Zoom. He also would be interested in having a special purpose call to test out zoom as an alternative to Adobe in some cases. We will work on scheduling this in the next few months
Cheers,
Judith

We should definitely test this tool, and others like it as they come along. I suggest, though, that the test be fairly strong, given the terminology we tend to use. Even the transcription services we've used in the past have produced some . . . interesting results. Thank you for sharing this, Dev. Internet Society has been using this tool for about a year or so, especially for the weekly conference calls during online training in network operations, advanced network services, etc. From my interaction, I found it a good tool. I agree with the team that we should test it. I used it with classes of about 35 people. Thanks, Sarah On Thu, Feb 8, 2018 at 16:26 Dev Anand Teelucksingh <admin@ttcsweb.org> wrote:

Hi All Zoom is not a replacement for adobe as it cannot load presentations or attachments to the main screen, but what you can do is share your screen and maybe that will work. It also does not have the pods that adobe uses, While it does have a great messaging app that can be detached from the discussions or web streams these only work for people who are on the paid or pro or higher version Still a good program to test. It works well for people with accessibility challenges Cheers, Judith Sent from my iPhone Judith@jhellerstein.com Skype ID:Judithhellerstein

Hi all (again), I just attended a conference call on Zoom and discovered an interesting feature. Twice during the call, we were divided into breakout groups for about 10 minutes each time. After the specified time, participants are given a one-minute warning then automatically taken back to the main room. Would be interesting to see the back-end setup of the breakout rooms. Thank you, Sarah On Thu, Feb 8, 2018 at 10:00 PM, Judith Hellerstein <judith@jhellerstein.com

Hello Judith, I think the presentation sharing option on zoom may need to be further explored as it can indeed be used for presentations. https://support.zoom.us/hc/en-us/articles/203395347-Screen-Sharing-with-Powe...
