HI Mary,

Thanks so much for your reply. It is good to hear that our suggestions and Maureen's note were helpful.  What I think would be very helpful is if before a blog comes out talking about a new feature that we and others have been asking for a long time, such as the Youtube Streaming, that a note from Ash, you, or another staff person be sent to At Large letting us know about the trial. This way we will feel that are comments have made a difference and that they are indeed listened to.  The note, can be nothing different than what you wrote but if sent before the blog comes out it will go a long way to making every one feel that they can make a difference and that they are indeed listened to.

We are excited to see this pilot and will schedule a session with your team after ICANN 69 so we can get a review of the pilot

Best Regards,

Judith Hellerstein

Hello Jonathan and everyone,

As I recall (but I am happy to be corrected, given the number of conversations going on around the community about virtual meeting support), those of us who have recently engaged with the Technology Task Force (TTF) have noted that ICANN org conducts technical, legal and other internal reviews before we can affirmatively confirm whether we can provide or support a specific tool. Based in part on the TTF’s suggestion, we began looking at Youtube as a possible viable streaming method for ICANN meetings. The pilot that Ash mentioned on today’s blog post is part of this internal review and, as such, we thank the TTF for making the suggestion. The pilot will allow us to assess the feasibility and effectiveness of offering this service on a larger and broader scale, e.g. for ICANN70.

We have been looking into the TTF’s other suggestions for technical support, as listed in the letter sent by Maureen earlier this month, and I believe we should be in a position to provide the TTF with a fuller response very shortly.

Thank you and the TTF for continuing to highlight the challenges that our volunteer community face, especially at this time when we are relying even more on virtual meetings than before.

Best regards,

Mary

Strange that we made this request and were simply told no but they quietly announced a pilot on their blog.  I don’t know what sessions they have selected for streaming but even this experiment is good news! So Mary and Tanzanica, David and whomever else are responsible here,  I’d like to say thank you for hearing us. Our frustration might have as much to do with communication as with inaction, so let’s make sure we’re always keeping the doors of communication open. Thanks again from the At-Large TTF.

Jonathan
