Proposed Update to Recommendation 7 by CCWG-AP
One of the items on our agenda is the Proposed Update to Recommendation 7 by the New gTLD Auction Proceeds Cross-Community Working Group (CCWG-AP). This proposal was made in a letter from Board Chair Tripti Sinha to the Chairs of the CCWG-AP Chartering Organizations - https://www.icann.org/en/system/files/correspondence/sinha-to-clemente-et-al... . In essence, the change widens the cases where ICANN's accountability measures cannot be used by applicants to the grant program. As one of the active participants in the CCWG and (I think) the person who originally raised the issue of limiting accountability processes, I support the proposed change. There was no attempt to limit the restriction within the group. We just didn't identify all of the possible aspects. As the drafter of the original statement giving ALAC support of the CCWG-AP, I have drafted a brief response to the letter. The Wiki workspace is https://community.icann.org/x/BgMZEw and the draft statement is https://docs.google.com/document/d/1c12w6oql_RC6iCJ55mc2WmzLZPEmF-KDKq8C0950... . Alan
HI Alan, I think Maureen and I also agreed and mentioned this during the meetings as well. Since we did not want Grant Money to be used to fight these multiple challenges and delay the grant. I have added some comments as well. Looking forward to tomorrow's Meeting Best, Judith _________________________________________________________________________ Judith Hellerstein, Founder & CEO Hellerstein & Associates 3001 Veazey Terrace NW, Washington DC 20008 Phone: (202) 362-5139 Skype ID: judithhellerstein Mobile/Whats app: +1202-333-6517 E-mail:Judith@jhellerstein.com Website:www.jhellerstein.com Linked In:www.linkedin.com/in/jhellerstein/ Opening Telecom & Technology Opportunities Worldwide On 3/27/24 4:24 PM, Alan Greenberg via OFB-WG wrote:

As Judith and Alan state, the At-Large members of the Auction Proceeds CCWG would concur with the Board's direction to remove the text referring to the Independent Project Application Evaluation Panel in Recommendation 7. its a pity the Board didn't also consider removing the Org's recommendation to declare that CCWG Auction Proceeds volunteer members have a conflict of interest thus should have no involvement with any grant application despite their commitment to 3 years of regular meetings, inputs, and major discussions in between formal meetings with our At-Large colleagues especially around voting times 😂😂 . This insertion by Org was also not the intent of the CCWG. M M On Wed, Mar 27, 2024 at 10:24 AM Alan Greenberg via OFB-WG <ofb-wg@icann.org> wrote:
