Subject: CALL for volunteers: until Monday Sept 1- Functional Model for Root Server System Governance PC

Dear OFB WG members,

On behalf of the OFB WG co-chairs, we are seeking At-Large Community volunteers to consider the “Functional Model for Root Server System Governance”, recently posted for public comment by ICANN org.

The reviewers, Vanda Scartezini, Eunice Perez Coelho, Herve Hounzandji, Bukola Oronti and Joel Okomoli have identified the need for the ALAC to submit a comment. See the document prepared by reviewers and presented at today’s OFB call here : https://docs.google.com/document/d/1HJM2VKu70mLbZy4WKqEXsv-d0-Y7d6kOBRBh4WYLllo/edit?tab=t.0. The OFB Working Group has reached consensus on the need for an ALAC comment. The Public comment will close on 22 September 2025, therefore the proposed timeline for the above-mentioned tasks is as follows:

Reviewer(s): Initial Bullet Point(s) presentation and rationale for discussion in order to establish working group consensus – OFB call 28 August 2025 

Penholder(s): First Draft Statement presentation and discussion – OFB call 4 Sept 2025

Community: Comment on Draft Statement – 5 Sept – Sept 10 2025

Penholder(s): Final Draft Statement presentation –Sept 11, 2025 

ALAC: Vote on Final Statement – Sept 17– 19 2025

Staff: Submission of ALAC Statement – Closed for Submissions Sept 22nd, 2025, | 23:59
