Dear OFB-WG members,

As introduced during the OFB-WG call of 27 June 2024 (https://community.icann.org/x/AoDXF), the OFB-WG is tasked with a review of the ALAC Procedures for filing comments and objection in the Next Round of New gTLDs.

In particular, the OFB-WG will work on considering whether any changes are needed to these ALAC procedures, with the goal of providing text changes (if any, apart from updating reference to dates etc) before ICANN81 to ICANN org support staff for onward action, vis a vis the Subsequent Procedures Implementation Review Team (SubPro IRT), for incorporation into the next Applicant Guidebook (either directly or by reference).

As planned, I am now sharing the links to 2 googledocs prepared by At-Large staff (thanks!) for your background reading to understand the ALAC Procedures that were used in the 2012 round:

(1) ‘Procedure for the ALAC to submit public comments on, and file objections to the new gTLD applications’; and

(2) 'ALAC Objection Funding Instructions' (archived copy)

We are working to collect feedback from key At-Large community members who were intimately involved in a number of aspects of the ALAC Procedures of 2012 so that you may better understand any challenges faced in the use of said procedures, to facilitate better discussions at future OFB-WG calls and determining any onward action.
