The Draft ICANN Strategic Plan 2025-2030, released in July 2024, outlines ICANN’s approach to environmental sustainability, but it raises several key questions: What specific, measurable targets have been established? What is the scope of organizational excellence concerning ecological impact, and does it include the comprehensive integration of sustainability into DNS and internet infrastructure? Additionally, what is the plan for engaging the multistakeholder community in these efforts, and what steps are being taken to raise awareness or advocate for sustainable practices in internet governance? Lastly, how does the Board plan to ensure environmental responsibility remains a core component of ICANN’s governance mission over the long term?
