Colegas, envío aquí un aviso recién recibido sobre la Fuerz de Trabajo sobre Criterios y Expectativas para las ALS (estructuras "At-Large"); esta convocatoria, si la entiendo bien, requiere que tres personas de la región Latinoamérica y Caribe sean seleccionadas para trabajar intensivamente sobre los criterios y expectativas de las ALS. Una será seleccionada por los miembros de ALAC de la región y dos serán seleccionadas por los líderes de la región de acuerdo a la práctica de la RALO (LACRALO en nuestro caso). Espero que nuestros representantes en ALAC y la Presidencia y Secretaría hagan público cuando antes el procedimiento para esta selección, ya que el grupo de trabajo iniciará su actividad en la semana del 3 de agosto, inminente a todas luces. También pienso que el consenso que alcanzamos recientemente sobre este tema, al final de la reunión en Buenos Aires, sea parte del mandato de quienes resulten designados. Lo traigo a la memoria presente en resumen: interesa que las organizaciones sean activas y representen los intereses y principios más caros a los usuarios generales de Internet en los temas de ICANN; que funcionen internamente para obtener estos puntos de vista; y que contribuyan activamente a los procesos de políticas y decisiones de ICANN, de preferencia los sustantivos y con menorers prioridades los de procedimientos, elecciones internas y asignación de recursos como puestos y viajes. Cabe añadir que todos deberíamos esperar que la selección en nuestra región prefiera a representantes con similares características, participación regular, frecuente y de fondo, autocrítica de nuestra propia organización, y demostrada capacidad de diálogo civil y constructivo.
