This is clearly not the case. In order for At Large Structures to be aware of the results and prepare for the next stage of the process which is the actual election, Staff needs to announce the above results ASAP. Furthermore, I believe that it would show courtesy to the kind candidates who have put themselves forward for Petition, to inform them that they have been unsuccessful, but also thanking them for taking part in the process (or something to that extend). I believe that the process of petition has been very interesting in that RALOs have pursued different paths to their result, and that there is a clear diversity of views out there - which is, IMHO, exactly what At Large is all about. I have heard comments from several people following the process from a distance, that the rules and processes for Petition weren't made clear by the ABSdt. In my opinion, these rules and processes should NOT be made clearer. The Petition process is an exceptional procedure, and if one uses the analogy of a road, the Petition process being an unmapped country lane, I think that it would be unwise to make it into a highway because this would weaken the candidate path through the BCEC and the highway might be abused in the future to bypass the BCEC's authoritative choices. We always have to look-out for ways to capture the system. Best regards, Olivier Dear All, As agreed by the ABSdt, petitions for additional At-Large Board Director candidates will be accepted until Sunday. Please notify, Cheryl Langdon Orr, the Chair of the BCEC (copied to this message), by Sunday, 7 November at 2359 UTC whether your region is supporting additions to the final slate of candidates released by the BCEC on 29 October. You can find details about the candidates and the selection process and timeline under: https://community.icann.org/display/DirCan/At-Large+Director+Candidate+2010+...
