en https://unesdoc.unesco.org/ark:/48223/pf0000388256 podrán Uds. encontrar un extenso texto producido por la UNESCO bajo el título "Iniciativas digitales para lenguas indígenas", de enorme interés para las personas que trabajan en ese campo o que tienen que atenderlo como parte de otras iniciativas de acceso a la infraestructura, promoción de la cultura, la educación, el comercio, el gobierno, y muchos otros ámbitos.
Es muy notable que el documento no cita NUNCA los nombres de dominio del DNS, ni mucho menos los internacionalizados o IDNs.
Las alternativas que surgen para nuestra comunidad a partir de este estudio son básicamente dos mutuamente excluyentes, y combinaciones de grano fino cronológico, espacial o institucional entre ambas:
a. aceptar que la importancia de los nombres de dominio para el desarrollo digital de las lenguas indígenas es marginal y dedicar energías a otros proyectos más urgentes y capaces de producir cambios significativos;
b. rechazar esa conclusión e iniciar un proyecto que demuestre a la UNESCO la magnitud de su error y conlleve una rectificación, sea mediante un addendum, sea mediante una nueva edición, y además conlleve la aplicación de los recursos de la UNESCO para la promoción de los IDNs en el ámbito de las iniciativas digitales para las lenguas indígenas.
Hasta ahora en LACRALO quienes nos hemos ocupado de este tema somos habitantes de países y culturas en los que la lengua nacional es el español o el portugués, con lenguas indígenas reconocidas como lenguas nacionales en pie de igualdad como Paraguay, Bolivia y México. ¿Existe interés de los anglófonos y hablantes de francés, holandés/flamenco y los créoles y pidgins de la región?
Las respuestas estructuradas a estas preguntas y planteamientos deberán ponderarse en la planeación y trazado de estrategias de la agrupación.
